Homogeneity Increases with Time

Note: in order to run the simulation referred to in this slide, go here, to the Java Applet version. You will be directed to download the latest version of the Java plug-in.

As a society interacts, agents learn the knowledge of other agents and so become more similar. Thus, through interaction, in a connected society, cultural homogeneity increases until perfect stability is reached. To the left is a society of agents that is not perfectly stable. Press Go to have the society interact for 100 time steps and see what happens to the cultural homogeneity, which will be graphed below. Press Go again to rerun the experiment if you wish.
